QB Dak Prescott Signs Expected Franchise Tag
Monday afternoon, QB Dak Prescott signed his expected franchise tender. This puts him under contract for at least the 2020 season.
Prescott received the franchise tag back in March, but postponed his signing to secure a long-term extension. The Cowboys still have until July 15 to figure out an extension. With Prescott signing the tag, he is guaranteed a $31.4 million salary.
This also places control back in the Cowboys’ hands by holding him to any fines and discipline if Prescott participates in any holdout. Prescott suggested he wouldn’t attend any off season program without the new deal, but signing his tender means he cannot sit out of training camp.
